How to add.strm file in Plex? (building plug-in later). To add.strm file to library?' Just be happy to add to Plex somehow a.strm file, like I did under XBMC. Hi everyone, I am new to Plex - after been using XBMC on my XBOX for some years now, it was time to move on to the HD area. And Plex was my first choice with the nice Mac Mini hardware platform fitting perfectly in living room. I am really please by Plex and would like to thank all the developers for their efforts!! I have yesterday posted a question in the 'General User Help' section: '[topic='8950']How to add.strm file to library?' [/topic] but had no reply, so maybe me question is better placed here. I will try to describe also a bit better my problem. There is this website:, of an Austrian Public Broadcaster, which has an on demand service of their late news shows (there is a link 'ZIB 2 on demand' which opens via javascript a separate window with embedded player and the last 5 shows are available via a wmv stream). I have been able to extract the mms-streaming link, which is quite simple: mms://stream5.orf.at/zib2/zib2200_2009_08_28.wmv So, only the date changes. Unfortunately I am not capable of building myself a plug-in for this (I started to take a look into it, but I am not yet there). File Extension StrmBut for the time being I would just be happy to add to Plex somehow a.strm file, like I did under XBMC. There, as described in my previous post, I simply put this mms-link into a txt file, and changed the ending into.strm and by simply clicking on it, it streamed. As I knew the structure of the stream-link, I had just to change the date of the link and I put a couple of.strm files in a folder - not so elegant as a plug-in but it fulfilled my purposes. So, my question - without building a plug-in, how best to tackle this - how to add to Plex a.strm file with this mms- link? Please forgive my ignorance, I am just an interested user and not coder. Many thanks in advance for any guidance in this respect and keep up the good work!! Add Strm Files To Video Playlist KodiHi all, Recently a new feature has been added to both MB3 server and the XBMB3C addon: You can now add virtual strm files to your MediaBrowser library If you have ever used XBMC/Kodi natively before you know what this is all about, if you have no idea, keep reading. University of Extremadura. Many add-ons for Kodi provide to possibility to 'add items to the library'. In the add-on settings from the video-addon you can provide a path to your library. If you're browsing the addon and see an item you like, you can choose in the context menu 'add to library', the add-on will then generate a folder in your librarypath for that particluar movie or tvshow and in that folder there will be a file with the strm extension. In fact this is some sort of placeholder file which will tell xbmc/kodi to launch the addon when that particular movie/show is played. With this method the files/movies/shows from 3th party addons would just show up in your main movies library so you have a all-in-one view. We had some complaints about users that want to replace their native Kodi libraries with MediaBrowser that this functionality was missing so we both extended the MediaBrowser server and the XBMB3C addon to support this too!
